What happens to all the information that is captured and shared online when its owner or protagonists die? It goes on to live a digital afterlife, a reality of the hyper-connected information age. In this session, experts on the digital afterlife join us to discuss what does, could or might happen to our data after we die.

We’re joined by psychologist, Elaine Kasket, author of All The Ghosts in the Machine: The Digital Afterlife of Your Personal Data. A discussion of her work will prove fascinating to anyone who’s ever (or never) thought about death in the digital age. It explores who is helped, who might be hurt, and who is ultimately in charge of these lasting online legacies. Should we care, and can any actions be taken right now to protect our digital future?

Elaine will be interviewed by Dr John Troyer, Director of the Centre for Death and Society at the University of Bath.

Good Grief online events are all free to attend. To join a session, register in advance using the button above. You’ll then be notified as the events open for booking.
