Getting Unstuck: Releasing Emotions through Writing (Grief Academy 4 – Online Workshop)
About the event
Writing can be a powerful way to release emotions and work through unfinished business. By pouring what’s in our minds onto paper, we can quiet repetitive thoughts and open up space for new ideas and perspectives.
In this 75-minute workshop, the poet Kat Lyons will begin by sharing their experience of turning to writing to understand and express their grief after their mum died. They will then lead us through some simple writing exercises to get our creative juices flowing. The workshop will focus on memories and special objects, but we can choose whether we want to think about our grief or something else.
In this session we will explore:
- How can writing help us express and process emotions?
- What techniques can get us writing when faced with a blank page?
- How can writing quiet intrusive thoughts and help us feel energized and focused?
This event is part of our Grief Academy course: When Grief is Complicated which will be running in February and March 2025 on the platform Teachable.
For just £25, you can join seven live webinars with leading experts, with recordings available for six months. We will also share extra course content such as reading lists and helpful videos — and there will be space to chat online and share reflections with other course members.
