Leaning in: Simple Techniques to Soothe your Physical and Emotional Self (Grief Academy 2 – Online Workshop)
About the event
In this 75-minute session, Morven Hamilton will explore simple ways we can calm our bodies and minds. Using techniques from mindfulness, breathwork, and yoga, she will teach us ways to regulate our bodies, soothe our system and build emotional resilience. We will also learn how we can relieve feelings of anxiety or overwhelm through vagal nerve toning techniques, which help us to restore the body to a steady state. This restorative session will offer a toolkit of strategies to help us to achieve a state of deep relaxation, connecting to our bodies and returning to the present moment.
In this session we will explore:
- What is the parasympathetic nervous system and what happens to it when we are bereaved? How can grief send our bodies into high alert?
- How can deep relaxation, breathwork and mindful movement help us to lean gently into big emotions while staying connected to the present?
- How can we soothe our nervous system when emotions are overwhelming?
This event is part of our Grief Academy course: When Grief is Complicated which will be running in February and March 2025 on the platform Teachable.
