Idris Baker has been a Consultant in Palliative Medicine in Swansea for 17 years. He is National Clinical Lead for palliative and end of life care in Wales and a founding codirector of the South Wales Motor Neurone Disease Care Network.
Before moving to Swansea he trained in Cambridge and London, completed higher training in Leicester, and was a Visiting Scholar at the Hastings Center in New York looking at the use of substituted judgments in decision making in end of life care.
He regularly contributes to education for a range of audiences on topics in palliative care and clinical ethics and enjoys a bit of debate, reveling in having been denounced to the press by one opponent as ‘genuinely wicked’.
