Julie qualified as Registered General Nurse in 1992 and specialised in Neurosciences Nursing working within the Regional Neurosciences Unit at Newcastle for 8 years. Julie moved into a specialist practice development role in 2000 and developed a keen interest in service improvement, patient safety and inter-professional learning. Julie commenced as a senior lecturer post at Northumbria University in 2002, where she continues to work and predominantly teaches undergraduate nursing students. Julie also leads on the registered degree nurse apprenticeship programme. Julie makes a significant contribution to developing nursing curricula, advancing knowledge in her discipline, with a specialist interest in neurological conditions and works closely with NHS and local partners to develop educational practice and ultimately patient care.
