Julie joined Marie Curie in October 2018 and in her role as Chief Nurse; Executive Director of Quality and Caring Services she has oversight of the clinical service strategy, service development and service delivery across the UK working with senior place-based leaders across the four UK nations and regions of England. Our priorities are to work in partnership and in collaboration with communities and other organisations to enable more people to have access to a better palliative and end of life experience.
Julie is a Registered Nurse and was awarded BSc in Nursing from Leeds Beckett University and an MSc in Nursing from the University of Manchester, in her early career she specialised in Intensive and Critical Care nursing working in several teaching hospitals in Leeds, London, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Southampton. Julie worked in NHS for 38 years and in the last 15 years she was in Executive Director roles in Nursing and Quality, and then as Chief Operating Officer
Julie is passionate about person-centred, safe and effective care for patients and families; and is keen to learn how we can work more effectively with diverse communities so that everyone is included and feels they can access services in a way that best meets their needs and what matters most to them.
