Facilitator


Sharon is a member of the Marie Curie Research Voices Group and has been involved in PPI work with Marie Curie in various capacities
for the past 8 years. Sharon’s professional background is in Nursing, spending the last 30 years of her career working in clinical and management roles in Oncology and Palliative and Supportive Care. The last ten years were as Nurse Director of Essex Cancer Network and finally as Director of Care Havens Hospices, retiring in 2012.

Sharon does not have a research background but her experience of palliative care both professionally and personally make her a passionate advocate for improvement in the services available and received especially for marginalised and hard to reach groups. She is particularly keen to see research has impact on both Policy development and clinical practice Living in Rural Suffolk, Sharon enjoys all things “family.”

Volunteering has always been an important part of family life and she is currently supporting a women and children’s HIV/AIDS charity she established in Zambia, is a visitor with a local Befriending Network and working as an Independent Custody Visitor for Suffolk and Norfolk PCC.
