Siddarth Shanghvi bio pic

Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi’s most recent book, Loss, draws on a string of devastating personal losses – of his mother, of his father and of a beloved pet – to craft a moving and intimate memoir of death and grief. A past contributor to TIME, the New York Times, Vogue and other publications, Siddharth lives in northern Goa.

‘The honesty, wisdom and pain of this writing add up to something very important: truth. Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi writes with unflinching truth about the unbearable, and thus makes it, at least, comprehensible.’

– Salman Rushdie, author of Midnight’s Children

Siddharth’s first novel, The Last Song of Dusk, won the Betty Trask Award and the Premio Grinzane Cavour. His second book, The Lost Flamingoes of Bombay, was shortlisted for the Man Asian Prize. He is also the author of The Rabbit and the Squirrel.
