NGAW: Bereaved Parents Day
We are supporting The Good Grief Trust’s National Grief Awareness Week (Dec 2-8) by releasing recorded events from Good Grief Festival for a limited time. Today, the focus is on bereaved parents. The videos below will be available to watch until December 15th.
Grief School: The Death of a Child
In this Grief School panel discussion we talk to experts, including those who’ve lost a child themselves, to discuss the nature of their grief and bereavement.
Grief Chat: Jane + Gill
In these informal Grief Chats, we bring together two people who have been bereaved in a similar way, to discuss their personal experiences of grief.
This Chat is about what it feels like when your child dies. Our guests are bereaved parents, Jane Harris and Gill Mann.
Jane is a therapist and filmmaker. Jane’s son, Josh, died at the age of 22 in a road accident while travelling in Vietnam in 2011. Jane and her partner, Jimmy Edmonds, went on to create a film about what came afterwards, called A Love That Never Dies.
Gill is a therapist and author. Gill’s 22-year-old son, Sam, died in Thailand in 2014. Gill has since released the book, A Song Inside, her heartbreaking and uplifting memoir of love and loss.
Grief School: Stillbirth
In this Grief School panel discussion, we invite a panel of experts and those who’ve experienced stillbirth to discuss their experiences of grief, their research and the support that’s available for parents of stillborn babies.
Fourteen babies die before, during or shortly after birth every day in the UK. The loss of a baby can have profound effects on parents and their families in the short and long term. It can also have a significant negative impact on subsequent pregnancies.
Grief Chat: Knife Crime (Alison + Rachel)
This Chat is about what it feels like to lose someone to knife crime and our guests are both bereaved mothers, Alison Cope and Rachel Webb.
Alison is the mother of Joshua Ribera who was murdered in 2013. Since Joshua’s death, Alison has worked tirelessly to share her son’s life and death story to educate young people about the real consequences of youth violence. Rachel is the bereaved mother of Kyron, who was murdered in 2017. She is the author of Kyron: Hello Madness, Goodbye Joy.
