NGAW: Men’s Grief Day
We are supporting The Good Grief Trust’s National Grief Awareness Week (Dec 2-8) by releasing recorded events from Good Grief Festival for a limited time. Today, the focus is on men’s grief. The videos below will be available to watch until December 15th.
Grief Chat: Making Space for Men to Grieve
Our informal Grief Chat brings together two people to talk about their personal experiences of grief. In this Chat, we talk to Liam and Callum, two men keen to discuss the challenges faced by men who need to grieve.
Grief Chat: Sands FC (Mike + Jordan)
This Chat is about what it feels like to lose a baby during pregnancy. Today we’re bringing two dads together, to get personal perspectives on their grief.
Mike Pollard is a bereaved father and player-manager at Sands United FC. Sands is the UK’s stillbirth and neonatal death charity, and its football club is a unique way for dads and other bereaved family members to come together through a shared love of sport. It’s a friendly and social support network where everyone can feel at ease talking about their grief when they’re ready.
Mike’s wife lost twin boys 19 weeks into the pregnancy in 2017. The couple suffered another miscarriage the following year, losing a baby boy at 24 weeks. Mike will be joined by Jordan, another bereaved father and fellow Sands United footballer.
